B&J Septic & Excavation Silex, MO 63377 573-384-5536 Curtis Westmoreland buys land to move his trailer to. There is a sign on the land from B&J Septic advertising the installation of a Septic system. Curtis calls B&J Septic and has them install the septic system. Half of the money is paid before the job is started in the sum of about 4000.00. The septic system is completed. The other half of the money is paid in the sum of 4000.00. Now comes owner of B&J septic Butch Mennie with the story of how he had to install 2 septic systems because the first one was not up to code. Is it Curtises place to say which type of septic system to install? Should Curtis pay for a second septic system because the wrong one was installed first? Why would Butch Mennie advertise to install septic systems on land where he does not know the proper code. Strange that the initial septic system (called a lagoon)cost 8,000.00 and the second (called wetlands)only 6,000.00. This is unfortunate for Curtis for now a 8,000.00 dollar septic system is 14,000.00 Butch Menning has 5 complaints with the Better Business Bureau in the last 3 years. I believe Butch Mennie of B&J septic to be using this as a scam to get people to pay almost double for septic system installation. He has done the same thing to one other in the same subdivison. I looked up another septic company in the area and they had no complaints with the Better Business Bureau. This is to help out my nephew Curtis Westmoreland, he is scheduled to go to court April 16, 2003. Butch Mennie is suing for 6,000.00. The court paper say no moneys have been paid to B&J septic. Any Help on the best way to proceed appreciated. From Tom Gately tgately@charter.net
