Some organisum infecting septic tank, causing bacteria to create some type of natural polymer. This is causing tank solids to stay in suspention and pass through to drain field. Installed effluent filter to no avail, solids continue to pass through filter. This is creating a black jelly like material with a grey colored skin on top in the drain feild. This material is quickly cloging the trenches and sealing up the field. This is second drian field for this home (first field failed in 5 years)the current field is 2 years old and has already sealed 3 out of 5 lines. Home owner is not using any thing unusual or overloading the system. I have checked everything I can think of to no avail. A friend of mine who works in the lab for the local treatment plant suggested the problem is biological in nature and not chemical. There are either some bad bugs infecting septic tank, or the bacteria are forming a natural polymer to protect themselves from some other contaminate. This is the third system in the last few years that I have had this same problem with. These systems really don't share anything in common with each other and I'm baffled. I would like to know if anyone out there has run across this problem and fiqured out an answer.
