I have a riser going to my distribution box so I can inspect and also add septic scrub once a year... I've always had about an inch of standing water in my box because my laterals are not completely at the bottom. I noticed today that there was no standing water in my box and I also noticed there was a nickel size hole directly on the bottom of the box while looking down my riser. Just for fun I ran a garden hose into my riser and could see the water going down the small hole.... Should I be concerned about this or should I patch the hole... I was hoping the hole will probably block itself up sooner or later. My box is about two feet under the ground and my system is 38 years old and works great. No back-ups or standing water in my drain field. I also use a zabel filter.
