My drains had been glugging everytime we showered, flushed the toilet, or did laundry for a few days so I checked around. Easy stuff first, I checked the stack pipe. All clear, so I decided to check the septic tank. I dug up the manhole cover. when I opened it, the tank was full of water to the top (it has been very rainy in my area). Here's where it gets strange: after about ten seconds, water rushed up out of the tank and filled the hole I dug. I replaced the lid and called to have the tank pumped. It took two days for the truck to show up. In that time the drains never glugged once. Could there have been a blockage that relieving pressure in the tank cleared, or is that just wishful thinking?
