Hi David Wanted to post this publicly in hopes of helping out someone else. At the suggestion of you, and several service men, I blocked off three drainfield lines that were flooded to allow them 6 months to a year for drying. Now I have some other questions that I hope you can answer for me as nobody locally can even offer advice. The ground over the three lines that I blocked off seems to be sinking, or settling, leaving a very visible ditch above each line. My question is, does this mean there is a deeper problem with these lines? If not, am I safe to add some top soild to level the ditches, and re-seed the grass? Or, if I do that, will the ditches rise again when I put the "dry" lines back in service, leaving a hump? Also, the original contractor used roto-levelers turned to differant positions in the primary distribution box to "step" the system in drop box fashion. The servicing contractor leveled all roto-levelers in all 5 boxes to feed the remaining lines evenly, placing the whole drainfield in service (not counting the out of service lines). Was this a good idea?
