Our home is 4 years old. After the first year, our lines filled up and there was a horrible odor. I contacted our builder as well as the health officials. It was determined that our lines were installed in field dirt and not natural soil. We spent quite a lot of money having the lines completely dug up, dirt hauled off and fresh dirt brought in. A new set of lines were installed with the approval of several inspectors. The system worked fine for 2 years. Now the lines are full again (no odor) and there is standing water at the base of the lines after I use the washer. We run 1 load of laundry per day and an additional load every second or third day. There are 3 living in the home. We have what I would call normal usage of water. I have spoken with my health dept. agent and he has no specific recommendations other than reduce water usage. Our septic tank was drained 2 years ago. Can I have my lines pumped? If I do this, and reduce future usage, would I still benefit from any chemical treatments in the future? The health dept. says not to use any additives, yet my system proves I need to do SOMETHING.Can you offer any suggestions?
