You seem to have several problems. The first question I would ask is how old in the system? The relationship of the distribution box to the drainfield is the important issue. The outlet laterals from the D-box and the level of the lines in the field should be about the same. The lines have very little slope on them so that the water does not run the end. The D-box can be lower than the septic tank without serious problems. A qualified contractor can help with this. If the drainfield has not been getting water because of a broken pipe, then fixing the pipe may fix your problem.
