I am in the process of buying a house that has a septic tank consisting of a redwood box that allows the waste to drain directly into the dirt without the use of leech lines. Apparently this is quite common for the older houses in this area of northern California, before the perc. test and leech field requirements were implemented. What do you think the problems with this type of system might cause and can yours or similar products be effective without a distribution box?
