We moved into this 33 year old house about 5 years ago. Prior to that I had always been on city sewers. The septic tank has been pumped just about every year since we've been here. The last three rainfalls have been unusually heavy and resulted in a flooded basement via the floor drain. Prior to basement flooding three months ago, the septic tank had been pumped two weeks earlier. We are supposed to be hooked-up to sewers in about 4 years; so we really don't want to go through the expense of repairs or replacement. Other than water backing-up in the basement during heavy rains; the system seems to be working pretty good. But I have noticed that some of our neighbors have had their yards dug up for repairs/slug removal.
