How can I tell if my drainfield is healthy? I am removing SalmonBerry plants from the side of my drainfield area and the soil is full of rocks, worms, and bugs and the soil is pretty loose, almost to the point of compost. There is no odors except earthy smell and the grass isn't any greener than the rest of the yard. With our annual rainfall of 100 inches a year, the soil is able to absorb, without leaving standing water. And would it be okay to use a rototiller to smooth out the ruts and level the property on the drainfield.
