As a new home owner, our system failed just after one year. We smelled a horrible odor and noticed a dark, murky water at the base of our front yard where our field lines were located. The local Health Dept. gave little useful information. I contacted the TN State Dept. for Groundwater Protection. After 3 independent consultants same to the site, it was determined that our lines were placed in field dirt and not in natural soil. We had our entire system dug up and the lines were replaced in new soil. The first 2 years, things went well, yet we are now experiencing a lot of wet areas after rains. The lines appear full and we are not happy with the prospect of yet another line failure. We have been told that a 4" pvc pipe can be installed at the base of the lines and capped so that the lines can be drained if necessary. Hopefully, this will soon be done and hopefully, it will help
