Hey, Our in house odor was caused by the snow sliding off our metal roof had broken the pipe. In our case it was where the roof pipe met the main just below. Luckily i just replaced the roof jack, and got a new rubber coupler. I also shortened the roof pipe and should make a metal flashing cricket or dam to deflect the snow, much like a snow plow.
No more stink!!!!!!! Most peoples homes have no coupler so the PVC actually breaks. If the snow is deep and sits for awhile around that warm pipe it will freeze water around it and bust it like a match stick. My whole roof jack was twisted like putty and thats galvanized metal sheeting!! Hope this helps.
